Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus: writing and interpreting performance tests, for both client and server, full system and subsystem, in a global multi-player game.
  • Secondary focus: incremental automation of the manual testing process.
  • Goal: early performance testing, in development, and a constant focus on incremental improvements to both the testing process and system performance on fielded devices.
  • Key to success is the ability to translate raw, detailed performance test results into simple, actionable information that tracks user-level performance KPIs and trends them over time: nightly performance results, aggregated into defined benchmarks.

Qualifications:

  • A demonstrated ability to work closely with engineers, across the full development phase, on rapidly shifting problems. Production engineers are required to provide basic automated testing hooks and basic performance probes with any new code, and to assist QE with a performance test plan, per user feature, and per major subsystems.
  • Experience in performance testing, in either research or commercial settings.
  • Prior experience in game development is useful but not required.
  • C# / Unity  is the primary coding language; prior experience in shell scripts, performance metrics, development tools and workflow automation preferred.
